Guess I have to re-train the boyfriend on shopping without me...

He has gotten really good about checking things for food coloring (yay!) but I think he forgot about my other allergies...

I am allergic to some legumes...it's hit and miss on what ones, but I know I can't have black beans. They make my throat swell up :(

Anyway, we have a small list on the fridge of things I can't eat.

The other day, I sent him to the store to get some salsa for dinner tonight. I was planning on making meatloaf. He said it wouldn't be a problem. He goes, gets it, and brings it home. I don't think to inspect it. It's salsa, it is pretty straightforward...

Yeah, I was wrong. I go to start the meatloaf, open the salsa and notice chunks of corn in there. While I'm not allergic to corn, I do know where that was going. Black beans...in salsa.

Boyfriend now has new rules. Buy Pace. Mild. The stuff that is chunky. The stuff we always buy. -.-

I'm glad I looked before making dinner. I don't like the hospital :(

So my friends and I have come to a great conclusion.

If all else fails, when I finish my degree, I'll have a great arguing point. I can point out crappy music and go "Well I have a degree in music. I know what I'm talking about."

Why did this come up?

Well tonight a group of us were chilling at our place in game and we were chatting about music. Some random person started bitching about how Adele did a cover of a Bob Dylan song. How it was unoriginal and she should be more like Nikki Minaj...

Over vent I could hear, "Oh lord, someone stop Harly now."

Yes, Adele did a Bob Dylan song. So has a LOT of people. Bob Dylan is a great songwriter. He is a terrible singer. It's not uncommon to see his stuff be redone by other artists. It was quite common in the 50s/60s/70s for artists to cover each others songs.

Let us reference this great wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_artists_who_have_covered_Bob_Dylan_songs

Yeah. Try to argue THAT one.

As for Nikki Minaj. I really don't feel like arguing that point. I'm open to all types of music, and I enjoy a fair amount of hip-hop/rap. Enough where I can tell what is decent and what is utter crap.

She is utter crap.

So it all led to the person asking me what makes me an "authority" on music. A friend so kindly informed them about my major. I guess I have a leg to stand on?

Or maybe I have decent taste in music? o.O

But yeah, found that funny...

No disrespect towards any Dylan fans or him. I respect him for his contributions as a songwriter. He just isn't a great singer.

He is a horrific singer and a great poet. I like a few of his songs with him at the vocal- but mostly my skin crawls when he sings.

I have to put that disclaimer a lot. Where I live happens to be his hometown. So when I say I don't like listening to his music, I have to always clarify the point about his singing making me want to shove a pencil in my eye. Great writer, terrible singer.

I just saw Morri's kismet and it ties in perfectly with my cheeky clef joke.

Small thing to cheer me up. xD

So I was crying because I've been quite depressed...

Boyfriend was trying to cheer me up by talking about all the useless shit they are teaching kids in high school these days, and asked me if I ever learned anything funny.

I told him that the most important thing I got out of music theory is that the alto clef looks like a butt.

Then he needed proof.

I am laughing and he now has a new fact to share in the world.

I finally found something to make me happy.

Zoya (the nail polish company of awesome) posted swatches to the new fall collection.

Oh. My. Gawd.

Like, seriously, these colors are making me so excited for fall.

I hate summer colors. They are too bright and look really bad on me. My skin tone just doesn't go well with super bright things. Especially orange. I own one orange polish and I have only put it on 2 nails. At that point I realized it wasn't going to happen. Thankfully, it was a cheapy one.

But fall colors are nice, dark, and vampy. nomnomnom

Designer and Diva

They are hot. I'm just worried that I have one in my collection that matches one of the dusty greens from the Designer collection. I'll message a blogger and see if she can do a comparison of the one I own and those.

I only saw one collection of the China Glaze collection, and nothing from OPI quite yet. Zoya has me excited, the CG isn't as great as I hoped.

Squee! Nail polish ♥

They also had a giveaway through a certain magazine, I don't remember which one, where they gave away some of their nail polishes

Oh my goodness, Zoya! The Diva collection is the one I think I'm really looking forward to. I like glitters and sparkles on my nails as opposed to just solid colors. Though I have to admit, a few of the colors in the Designer collection have really caught my eye.

I hate MN right now.

I have never had allergy issues this bad until I moved up here.

Sure, the pollen count is "low" but the crap I'm allergic to is what is blooming right now. It's even worse with people mowing their lawns and this place being super windy.

It also makes my self-esteem plummet. I am overweight, I get that. But I never have issues walking across a parking lot.

Right now? I had to use my inhaler to get across the damn thing. All because my allergies have made it so it's near impossible for me to breathe right.

Again, this goes back to my earlier statement about if I lost weight, would I still need my inhaler. I'd need it. The fact I have to use it now because of plants, just makes me feel bad because of my weight. :(

People who see me using it are probably thinking "Oh, she is too fat to get around so she has asthma. If she lost weight she wouldn't have issues."

Instead of "Oh, looks like she has severe allergies and has to use her inhaler because of it."

Long story short. Allergies are kicking my ever living ass. The neti pot isn't helping much. My meds aren't really helping, and I've used my little red buddy way too much this week. When is fall? I want stuff to start dying again. :(

Bleh.

I read this with stinging eyes, and used my inhaler this morning. And I joked with one of the guys how I wished the green shit would die outside. lol And I am sure the weight I carry is not helping either.

Same boat, different paddle.

But my paddle *Butt* is bigger then yours. ;)

So I open PS, decided I'd whip together a tag.

Nothing can distract me right? lol

I open the kit I'm going to use and I see a full sheet of music. I'm not talking...bits and pieces. It was as if it was put there just to taunt me.

So I scan through it quickly....And then whip out my awesome notepad.

Annnnnnnd I write down all the notes/values and run over to the keyboard...and play it.

Tomorrow, my boyfriend is going to wake up and wonder why the keyboard is pulled out, and why there is a funny piece of paper with letters and numbers on it.

I should just print the damn thing out and deal with it that way...

But yeah. I'm a nerd.

Seems I missed all the fun last night while we had no electric :(

Oh yeah...we had no power. First the net went last night, so I figured I'd just chill and play Minecraft. Then the power went.

That was my cue to head to bed.

I figured it would be back up this morning when I woke up...

I was wrong :(

We just got it back about 20 minutes ago. I did spend some time playing Minecraft while the power was out. Laptop was fully charged and I was bored.

Now, to catch up on some emails and settle my classes for Fall. I have all 18 credits set, I just need book lists.

On hold for 30 minutes just to have a 3 minute conversation with social services.

I had mentioned before that our food was cut down to 16 dollars a month. Well my re-certification is due and I wanted to know if I actually have to go in for an interview if I don't want to keep my food stamps, but keep my healthcare.

I don't feel like dicking around for 16 dollars of food. I will dick around if my insurance is on the line. Which, I don't have to do. All I need to do is fill out the form for health care, turn it in, and I'm good to go. But I waited on hold for 30 minutes to ask three questions.

1. Do I need an interview if I just want to keep my health care and say screw the rest?

2. What proofs do I need to bring for my heathcare?

3. Are you open on the 5th?

Seriously...

Thankfully, it's just one form, my id, ssn, and my signature.

Woo!

They also need better wait music.

Whoa, wait...$16.00 worth of foodstamps? And for more than one person? What can you buy with that - rice and water? WTF?

Well - I hope that you keep your healthcare intact. I recently got some coverage via the county I live in, but it still takes forever to get an appointment to see a doctor - after Thanksgiving isn't soon enough, ya' know? I'm at the point where I'll just go into the emergency ward of the hospital to see a doctor about my stomach and left knee!

And yes - most of the music you have to wait through while on hold truly sucks.

There have been tons of people in the area I live in, complaining about the "heatwave".

Bitch, it was only 82 fucking degrees today, with no humidity. To be quite honest, there was a nice breeze with it....

82 ain't a fucking heatwave. 102 is.

While I understand that it's not the most comfortable temps, it's also not something to be bitching about.

Add some humidity to this and then we can possible discuss your "heatwave".

Currently at 1am in the morning? It's 50 degrees.

Oi vey. o.O
